I know the plans I have for you says the Lord...this tells you that you do not know the plan for your life and that it has already been written by Him.
How different would your life be living from that truth? Would you trust more, would you seek to spend more time with the only One who knows the plans for you, or would you rest from striving? The answer is yes!
Knowing and believing this truth would allow you to have peace in the divine interruptions of your life and to trust when life doesn't go as planned and believe me, most of the time it won't because He is God and His steps are untraceable. His ways are unfathomable. I have learned the truth of His word that declares His ways are truly nothing like our ways. In fact most of the time the chaos in my life was actually bringing about a greater good than I could have imagined. We must simply trust in what we cannot see because we trust the One who is with us and in His love for us. In the light of just celebrating Christmas lets talk about an example of this through the life of Mary.
Mary was probably dreaming about her wedding dress and planning for her wedding when the Lord sent an angel announcing God's plan for her. While she was preoccupied with picturing life with the man of her dreams, God was inviting her to be the Mother of Jesus, the Savior of all mankind! How different are His plans for us must be!
30And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace with God. 31And listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. (Luke1:30,31)
Talk about an interruption! Or was this an invitation to something far more than Mary had planned for her own life? What would happen if we started to view the interruptions in our lives as really invitations from our Father for something far greater and bigger than what we had planned? It seems in studying the lives of the people used by God we will see this same pattern.
Joseph was interrupted by a pit and a prison that God used to prepare him for the palace! God invited Him to save a nation during a time of devastation.
Moses was interrupted by a burning bush that he couldn't explain. God invited Him to be a deliverer of His chosen people.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress when God used an angel to interrupt him and then invited him to confront his personal weakness that He might see God's strength. God then used him and his outnumbered army to defeat a mighty enemy.
You see His ways cannot be understood or explained. We must simply believe. What He has spoken to you about your life is something that already has been, is, and will be IF you agree. What I mean is that you must come into agreement with His foreordained plan. It cannot happen without your agreement and partnership. We must come to Him as a child who just believes what their Father has promised. We must answer His invitation to us as Mary did. She didn't need the details or the how, what, and when. She just replied in childlike faith.
38Then Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said. And the angel left her.
In this next year when God brings His invitation or reminds you of His previous invitation, let our answer be as our example in the life of Mary. May our reply to His plans for us be "Lord let it be unto me as you have already planned, as you have already designed it to be, and as you have spoken."
